Step-by-Step Guide for Getting Started with Seedtime

1. Introduction (0:01-0:07)

  • Overview of the video: setting up your Seed Time account, configuring your calendar, and exploring the platform.

2. Setting Up Your Location (0:12-1:06)

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the location entry field.

  2. Enter your address or zip code.

  3. Select your location from the drop-down menu that appears (important for auto-populating your growing zone).

  4. Verify your growing zone, average frost dates, and hard frost dates are automatically populated.

  5. If you live in a microclimate, manually adjust these dates by clicking the fields to edit.

3. Saving Changes and Navigating to the Calendar (1:17-1:30)

Steps:

  1. After verifying or editing your frost dates, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

  2. Click the Back to My Garden link at the top of the page to return to your calendar.

4. Understanding the Calendar (1:30-2:12)

Steps:

  1. Locate the calendar view, where months are displayed on the side and days of the week across the top.

  2. Observe the blue-shaded areas, which indicate frost dates based on your location.

  3. Use the date selector at the top of the calendar to adjust the timeframe you're viewing (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly).

  4. Explore different calendar views, such as the timeline view for a linear representation of your planting schedule.

5. Adding Crops (2:12-3:03)

Steps:

  1. Click the green Add Crop button in the top-right corner of the calendar.

  2. Search for the crop you want to grow by typing its name in the search bar.

  3. Select the crop from the search results.

  4. Click Schedule to add the crop to your calendar.

  6. Adjust the schedule by dragging the crop’s timeline forward or backward if needed.

Steps for Each Module:

  1. Seed Time Layout:

    • Create and visualize your garden layout by dragging and dropping elements to map out your garden spaces.

  2. Task List:

    • View upcoming seeding, transplanting, or harvesting tasks based on your calendar.

    • Mark tasks as complete when finished.

  3. Journal:

    • Add notes and observations about your garden.

    • Attach images or tag journal entries to specific crops.

  4. Classroom:

    • Access tutorials and videos on various gardening topics, such as seeding, transplanting, and pest control.

  1. Visit the Community tab to access Seed Time’s private Facebook group.
