Step-by-Step Guide for Adding and Editing Crops in Seedtime
1. Introduction (0:00-0:06)
Learn how to add and edit crops in your garden plan, including default and custom crops.
2. Adding a Crop (0:12-0:41)
Steps:
Click the green Add Crop button at the top-right corner of your screen.
Search for a crop by typing its name in the search bar.
Select the crop from the list of pre-built options in Seed Time.
If you have an upgraded plan, you can create a custom crop by entering a name and adding details.
3. Selecting a Variety (0:41-1:14)
Steps:
Once you've selected a crop, choose a specific variety from the dropdown list (optional).
If no variety is selected, Seed Time uses an average for days to maturity.
Select a variety (e.g., Jericho lettuce) to automatically update the crop’s days to maturity.
4. Adding Notes and Customizing Appearance (1:14-1:37)
Steps:
Use the Label field to add a note about the planting (e.g., location, soil block size, etc.).
Customize the crop’s color for better visual organization in your calendar.
5. Scheduling the Crop (1:43-2:17)
Steps:
Choose whether to transplant or direct seed the crop.
Seed Time will suggest a default option (e.g., transplanting for lettuce) based on the crop.
Change the planting method if needed, and observe how the task list updates accordingly.
Verify the crop type (e.g., cool season or warm season) pre-filled by Seed Time.
6. Understanding and Editing Tasks (2:24-4:29)
Steps:
Review the default task series created for the crop. Tasks include:
Seeding: Timing is based on your frost dates. Adjust manually if needed.
Bed Preparation: Scheduled relative to the transplanting date.
Transplanting: Suggested timing relative to the seeding date.
Cultivating: Scheduled 14 days after transplanting and repeats every 21 days until harvest.
Harvesting: Uses days to maturity to suggest a harvest window.
Edit tasks by:
Changing dates, durations, and repetition settings.
Adjusting the days to maturity (e.g., from seeding or transplanting).
Deleting unnecessary tasks (e.g., bed preparation or cultivation).
7. Customizing Task Templates (Upgraded Plan) (4:29-5:50)
Steps:
Add custom tasks to the task series (e.g., additional checks or maintenance).
Set details for custom tasks:
Start date (relative to other tasks).
Duration and repetition settings.
Save your custom task series for future use.
8. Adjusting the Calendar (6:01-6:19)
Steps:
Move crops forward or backward in the calendar by dragging them.
If a crop is moved outside the optimal range, Seed Time may display a heat warning.
Accept the warning to proceed or cancel to revert.
Turn off warnings in the settings if you prefer not to see them.
9. Adding Successions (6:37-6:57)
Steps:
Open the crop’s context menu and select Add Succession Planting.
Adjust the succession spacing under the harvest task.
Add additional successions as needed to build out your crop plan.
10. Building Out Your Garden Plan (6:57-7:17)
